MUMIJA

Izvadila si me,
arheologinjo,
iz prašine,
iz pijeska,
iz zemlje.
Dugo, dugo, dugo
si kopala
srebrnom žličicom za šećer
da mi
ne oštetiš lice
ne ogrebeš kožu
očuvaš misli.

Iskopala si me,
djevojčice,
igrajući se u pijesku Sahare
i prigrlila k sebi
kao svoju najdražu lutku.

Oslobodila si me,
ženo,
prljavih povoja koji me obavijaše.
Polako si odmotavala s mene
platnene okove
dok ne osjetih
ugodan lahor olakšanja.

Zaštitila si me,
čuvarice,
bezbrojnih ruku
božice pohlepe.
Sakrila si me od njenog proždrljivog pogleda
i potopila u duboko jezero
svojih očiju
da me nikad ne nađe.

MUMMY

You have put me out,

woman archeologist,

of dust,

of sand,

of dirt.

Long,

long,

long

you were digging

with a silver tea-spoon

so you

don't damage my face

don't scratch my skin

preserve my thoughts.

You have dug me,

little girl,

while you were playing in the sand of Sahara

and you have embraced me

like your favourite doll.

You have freed me,

woman,

from dirty bandages which were surrounding me.

You were slowly unwrapping from me

linen chains

until I felt

pleasant gentle breeze of ease.

You have protected me,

woman keeper,

from numberless hands

of the goddess of greed.

You have hidden me from her voracious look

and sunk me into the deep lake

of your eyes

so she can never find me.
